In all casting processes, cooling is a key factor in ensuring both the quality of the molten product and the protection of the melting furnaces.

Similarly, cooling and its control of the furnaces for subsequent heat treatments is fundamental, since the characteristics and quality of the final product will depend on the controlled temperature and time curves.

The new Winoa Ibérica plant located in Balmaseda (Bizkaia) and inaugurated in October 2018, is considered the most modern in the world in the production of steel shot for high added value abrasives, in a sustainable and efficient way. In its 30,000 m2 it has four buildings with induction furnaces, heat treatment furnaces, screening stations and logistics area. On this occasion, evaporative cooling continues to be chosen as the best technological solution for managing refrigeration in an equally sustainable and efficient manner to ensure top quality production in a flexible manner.

Winoa selects an evaporative cooling system based on open circuit and induced draft cooling towers model CTFP for its proven efficiency, durability and low maintenance and for the service offered over time by TORRAVAL.

THE RESULT

  • Cooling for the direct circuit:
    7 cooling towers x CTFP 2436 SPP15 kW
  • Cooling for the indirect circuit:
    2 cooling towers CTFP 2436 SPP 15 kW

Subsequently, the equipment is adapted to the current regulation by installing safety measures with platforms, handrails and stairs that improve accessibility and guarantee the required safety measures.
